BIOGRAPHY

A deep sultry voice ... pooled with sweet, haunting melodies, a reflection of an emotionally volatile existence, an observational perspective of the world in and around her, this is the music of Barbara Hollek.

Barbara, a Chicago based vocalist and writer, is self taught in guitar and is noted for her unusual guitar tuning and her original true story songs presented in a "blues" style.

While living in southern Illinois and St. Louis, Barbara made the circuit with various bands in addition to her solo gigs. Now, back in Chicago, she continues on with her love for performing and delights in playing alone or in the company of other musicians.

Barbara's main influences are early seventies vocalist and writer, Laura Nyro and the still and ever influential Canadian music man, Bruce Cockburn.
